I Know I Need To Post SOMETHING On Facebook…. But What?

58 Sample Facebook Posts For Remodelers In 10 Categories

Creating Interesting, Relevant, Entertaining Facebook Content Is Just A Matter of Planning, Research, And Focus…

Written by Rich Harshaw.

Last week I posted two articles about social media—first a set of tips to get you started, then a list of blunders to avoid. In both posts I encouraged you, above all else, to keep your posts interesting, engaging, and entertaining. I also encouraged you to systematize and calendar your posts so you are always prepared at least two weeks in advance.

So today we’re going to take this all to the next logical level by creating sample posts in multiple categories; these posts could then be calendared out in whatever frequency and interval you want.

But before we get started, just a couple of notes: 1) these are SAMPLE posts; use them for inspiration, not verbatim; 2) these posts will be written for multiple kinds of remodeling companies… don’t be confused that a post that talks about window replacement is followed by one touting kitchens.

The idea is to write multiple posts in multiple categories, then create a schedule that mixes them up and keeps the type of post fresh.

Okay, here we go! These categories are not in any particular order.

Category 1: Quotes – You know, quotes! The quotes you post should be consistent with the image you want to portray. Find quotes that suit your identity, your personality, your products, and your mood.

Category 2: Customer Success – You’ve got customers, right? And you do good work for them and make them happy, right? Well… show and tell about your great customer experiences!

Category 3: News-Oriented – Keep an eye out (or a Google alert!) for anything in the news that’s related to home improvement or remodeling… then report it to your fans. You are basically acting as a curator for relevant information.

Category 4: How To – Everyone wants to know how to do stuff… so your job is to figure out what kind of stuff would be interesting to teach them… then write an article on your blog that you post about on Facebook.

Category 5: Numbered Lists – You know how you see those numbered lists all over the internet? “10 Child Stars From The 80’s Who Are In Drug Rehab” or “12 Places You Must Visit In Europe Before You Die.” The reason they’re so darn popular is they are easy to write and fun to read. So make some lists, write some articles for your blog, and post away!

Category 6: Time of Day/Week-Related – Besides being interested in home improvement, your fans and customers are also interested in…. life in general! Help them out by giving them tips and inside info about places to go, things to do, and activities to participate in.

Category 7: Giveaways & Contests – Everyone loves to win something… or at least have a chance to win something. Think of some creative giveaways and contests that will engage your Facebook fans; here are a few ideas:

Category 8: Offers – Use offers sparingly—you don’t want your social media feed to be perceived as just another chance to sell people something. But every 10 to 20 posts, give your fans an offer.

Category 9: Jokes – Everyone loves a good, clean joke. Search online for jokes and post one occasionally.

Category 10: Ponderables – Stand-up comedians have made a living pointing out weird nuances of life—I call them ponderables. Use these sparingly… but they can be a good, quick, fun way to connect with your Fans once in a while:

There you have it! Just do a little research, a little pondering, a little thinking… and you’ll have plenty of content before you know it. Remember, the key it to think it all out in advance, so you have a plan. The worst thing you can do is try to “wing it” with social media. Do you have other ideas? Other categories? Let me know in the comments section to this post!
