We Calmly Averted A Crisis When A Client’s Previous Web Host Crapped On Them

The Door Store is one of our newer clients. Last Wednesday (5/11), we were supposed to take over hosting duties from their old webhost and launch their shiny new MYM website.

Key words here: supposed to.

You won’t believe this…

On Tuesday morning (5/10), The Door Store’s old webhost had a brainfart—and took down the contractor’s website a day early.

No warning. No notice. No explanation. The website just suddenly vanished.

Understandably, the client went CODE RED.

A contractor with NO website… in 2016? Even for one day? That’s like having thousands and thousands of dollars of cash ripped right from your hands.

In sheer panic (and probably soaked in sweat), the owner, David Voss, called us. We investigated and quickly realized that his problem was potentially FAR WORSE than he anticipated.

You see, if your webhost kills your website, all of your SEO traction is—POOF—gone. Instantly. Kaput. Lost forever to the internet ether.

Unless you act… fast.

Ninja fast. Usain Bolt fast. Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs fast.

This client was about to lose over 100 pages of SEO-boosting content. One. Hundred. Pages.

PASS THE PEPTO.

This is the part where we brag a little…

If The Door Store had hired just about any other internet marketing company, they would have been screwed. They typically have ZERO sense of urgency. We constantly hear horror stories of unreturned emails and voice mail hell… even for routine requests. Not to mention emergencies.

That’s not us.

Every single person at MYM has what’s called “Stop Work Authority.” That means that ANYONE (and I do mean anyone) can push a huge, red stop button (figuratively speaking) and redirect as many resources as necessary from routine projects to deal with an emergency.

In other words, we expect, anticipate, and have a plan for dealing with problems.

Instead of, you know, crossing our fingers and hoping they don’t happen.

When the client called us in total freak-out mode, our entire web team put aside the routine projects they were working on, took a deep breath, and kicked into high gear to complete and launch the new website within the hour. (Keep reading to see some amazing before and after photos.)

What’s more, we put on our thinking caps and used a cached version of the client’s old site map to recover the URLs of 120 pages from the previous website. This prevents the client from the agonizing nut-kick of having to start over at SEO rock bottom.

Bullet: Dodged.

Needless to say, The Door Store is not only thrilled that we fixed their problem ASAP… they’re back-flipping with joy that we launched their awesome new website early.
