Over the past several blog posts, I’ve talked about how to get more leads at Home Shows and how to follow-up with your leads. Using the MYM system, our clients see anywhere from 2 to 10 times the number of leads and sales over previous years.

In my last post I was talking about how to generate anywhere from 2 to 10 times the leads at Home Shows using MYM’s exclusive Triple Play Strategy.
In this post I’m going to tell you the key to the 2nd part of the strategy.
Part 2 of the strategy is to stop prospects in their tracks and meaningfully engage them.
First, you need a very attractive giveaway that makes people excited. Give a grand prize out once a year that is special. If you are only giving it once a year, you can afford to make it something special because it will help you generate interest all year long.
The other way to stop prospects is to use a Big Bill. This is a 17” x 7.3” facsimile of a $1,000 or $5,000 or some other big denomination of a piece of cash. It’s so outlandish; so unexpected; and so… COOL that it becomes an instant conversation starter.

This might sound harsh, but in my experience, it’s just a fact:
90% of contractors are terrible about following up on leads from Home Shows.
I’m not talking here about the appointments that were set at the Home Show. Of course, you are following through on those.
I’m talking about all the people who entered a drawing or otherwise gave you contact information without setting an appointment.
Few contractors have a system in place to reach these prospects, and even fewer offer a meaningful incentive to engage further.
If you don’t have that system, you’re leaving money on the table. Period.
So what should you do? First, whoever is calling back prospects needs to have a script to guide them on how to engage. And second, you need a specific incentive to offer the prospect.
